I want to be Klaus Nomi! (Icon)

Klaus Nomi was a singer who rose to fame in the early 1980’s only to leave this world in the same decade by the tragic way of AIDS. His sound was like a new wave/dark wave opera from the future.

I was introduced to Klaus Nomi by this boy who I dated briefly a few years ago. He was about 70% gay, kind of homeless and very into Nomi. “Bowie,” he sniffed, scrolling through Ipod, “Klaus Nomi shames Bowie!”

I recently rediscovered Nomi via  “Nomi Song”  a documentary about the artist. The videos of his performances are unreal. His extraordinary talent paired with his robotic movements and brilliant costumes make Nomi pop.

Upon viewing the footage of Nomi I find he seems fragile, vulnerable yet stiff and closed off. An Edward Scissorhands comparison would be very easy, and I think very on. I think some of his stuff is just fantastic:

love the black clara bow-esque lips.

bubble wrap outfit=amazing. I have always wanted to make a dress out of bubble wrap.
