So this is what I look like when my husband takes me out for fancy company-events. Normally with this dress I would go a bit more va-va-voom: red lips, bigger accessories and meaner heels. Yet I think I could get into this classic pretty-lady look as I do enjoy being faux-bourge-ie. What is faux bourge-ie you ask? Exhibit A. The chandelier in my bedroom B. the cow skin rug beneath my feet and C. the Oscar De la Renta dress I am wearing, thrifted for under $10.
Being faux bourge-ie is about having quality items that the first owner probably paid a lot of money for. In reality I am quite a thrifty gal, Ned and I are pretty DIY, we eat at home and don’t go out often. Yet I often prepare decadent meals served on second hand china and crystal, and afterward mix classic cocktails from medium shelf liquors kept in thrifted cut glass and crystal decanters on our bar.
I love coming up with thrifty ways to add a bit of decadence to my life, to me it’s totally those little details that make each day exquisite and boosts my quality of life. What about you? What are the small indulgences and luxuries you treasure in your life?

Wow, that dress was a good score! I personally love thrifting for expensive clothes. It makes me feel like I have a big secret when I wear them.

It is the best feeling! Thanks ladies!
My boyfriend is a custom green furniture designer and I’m a painter so our tiny apartment is CRAMMED with giant, site-specific furniture and paintings- all of which cost us relatively little money to make. It looks/feels like we’re rich, even though we’re totally poor! The only problem is I never want to leave my apartment.
Lol I love that Kelly! Thanks for posting also so I could find your art, really lovely stuff you create!
