+ The best story I’ve heard in a long time:

“A little boy (maybe 5 years old) wrote to Maurice Sendak [author of ‘Where The Wild Things Are’] telling him how much he loved his books, his drawings, everything about him. As you might imagine, Sendak gets a lot of fan mail, but he was so moved by this one that he wrote the boy back and enclosed an original drawing, just for him. The boy was so overjoyed when he received the drawing that he ate it, the entire thing, every last shred of pulp and ink. His mom wrote back to the author, telling him the story. Sendak was thrilled, saying that that was the greatest compliment he had ever received.” Thanks Gala, from here

I remember finding the Madonna sex book in the YA section of my library when I was younger…hehe. I knew there was a reason that librarian was my favorite! : )

Awww :D cute story. I love that book! I think I would do the same if I hadn’t already drunk far too much acrylic paint due to a number of ‘Oh fuck just dipped my paintbrush in my tea again…But I still want to drink it’ incidents.

    Great links also.

Thinking a bit more, the story leaves me feeling a bit sad, because of my own associations of love and eating. Thankyou for posting, as this will be useful to think about :)

Emily, It was in the YA section? Wow! I would have been totally jealous of you!

Cat, I know I loooooove that story! I agree there is something so vulnerable about it and authentic. It’s like I can just imagine this child’s emotions around the whole ordeal, and it is so intense! It brings up a lot of emotions for me too.
